Mission Statement

Teton-in-the-Fall

The Friends of the Moose-Wilson Corridor (MWF) is a local, grassroots, all volunteer organization. MWF formed in 2015 to participate in the National Park Service (NPS) Comprehensive EIS process for the Moose-Wilson Corridor Management Plan, for Grand Teton National Park.

We attended countless NPS meetings, open houses, and met locally as a small group to strategize how to best share our recommendations for protection and management of the Corridor.

We submitted individual comments in the Draft and Final EIS processes. We coordinated with various nonprofit local and national organizations to urge their involvement in the process. More than 34,000 comments were received the NPS.

In September 2016, the NPS issued a Final Record of Decision and selected Alternative C for implementation. This alternative was selected as the best way to protect the natural and cultural resources in the corridor and make various improvements to the existing road and trailheads. Much of this work has been completed with finishing work being done now at Death Canyon and other sections of the northern road segments.

The NPS, through the robust EIS process concluded that constructing a 7.1 mile separated paved bike path would be destructive to critical wildlife habitat and obliterate significant indigenous archeological sites.

Once the NPS issued the 2016 Final Record of Decision, The Friends of the Moose-Wilson Corridor disbanded.

Fast forward to the spring of 2026. We learned that the NPS was ordered by the Department of the Interior to construct the rejected separated paved bike pathway.

So our Friends group re-formed and are working to stop this destructive project.
