Eight of our wonderful Moose-Wilson friends attended and most spoke at today\u2019s Teton County Commissioner\u2019s Meeting. And others watched online. Thank You!!!<\/p>\n
The meeting opened with brief general public comments allowed. I spoke about the ridiculous Major League Baseball proposal to hold a major league game in Grand Teton NP. My comments are linked here. https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/mw6fu7ky<\/a><\/p>\n Later on a planned agenda topic, the BCC discussed their Draft letter to the Secretary of the Interior in which they express concern about the lack of process by Interior for the cooperating agencies re adding the rejected 7.1 miles bike pathway. And lack of further analysis and public involvement. There was a fairly long discussion about the letter with, Chris Colligan, the TC staff person who drafted it. Chris did a great job with the letter. Commissioner Carlman asked a question of the public about wouldn\u2019t it be a good idea to realign the road in the north section of the M-W Corridor to lessen impact to wildlife. I responded by saying that the way the question could be answered would be for the NPS to open a supplemental EIS and conduct an analysis and look at the facts. Without that it is just conjecture. Others weighed in here as well which supported the need for further analysis based on science.<\/p>\n Others of our group spoke to the Moose-Wilson issue and did a great job representing various key points! Additionally, Catherine Hughes of the JHCA and Allison Michalski of NPCA also made excellent points. Kudos to all our friends who spoke.<\/p>\n The County Commissioners decided to strengthen the letter and further emphasize the Interior Secretary\u2019s order 3434 which directs Interior agencies to strengthen coordination with gateway communities. This was totally lacking with regard to the decision on the Moose-Wilson Corridor bike pathway. Letter yet to be finalized and sent. Tick-tock.<\/p>\n Tonight is the Town meeting where general public comment is accepted at the start of the meeting. Several of us hope to make that meeting too and speak about M-W.<\/p>\n Two of our opponents, FOP Katherine Dowson and Tim Young, spoke during the issue comment section. Our group consensus after the meeting was that they did their cause no favors with the County Commissioners. Time will tell.<\/p>\n Our website domain and site hosting has been purchased.
